HAH defines offensive and prohibited conduct as actions that may include, but not limited to offensive jokes, slurs, epithets, name calling, physical assaults, threats, unwanted touching, persistent unwanted attention, invasion of personal space, intimidation, ridicule, mockery, insults, and put-downs. Sexual harassment is defined as unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature that is engaged in without clear affirmative consent. Discriminatory and harassing actions are prohibited both when they are directed at specific individuals and groups or when they create a hostile environment.
As a Humanist organization, HAH promotes a naturalistic worldview that is grounded in science, reason, and it is committed to the promotion of secularism. HAH is concerned for the well-being of all, it is committed to diversity, and respects those of differing yet humane views. It recognizes that there will be conflict with those who promote a different worldview that conflicts with these and other tenets of Humanism, and HAH encourages its members to be respectful and avoid harassment when engaging with others of differing viewpoints.
This policy addresses harassment that involves HAH members and affiliated members in general at all HAH events and on all HAH social media. By joining HAH, and through registering for meetings and/or partaking in any activities related to HAH, participants agree to comply with the policies, rules, regulations, and by-laws of HAH. Failure to adhere to the policies, rules, regulations, and by-laws are grounds for immediate expulsion from HAH and HAH events. In addition, further action may be taken to disassociate HAH from offenders to include, but not limited to reporting harassment or other illegal activities to the proper authorities.
